The Akraborg canning factory was established in Akranes in 1989. For over 20 years, the company has been a leader in the production of high-quality canned cod and is today the largest producer of its kind in the world.

Smoked cod liver in own oil

Canned cod liver from first class Icelandic raw material. We only use fresh liver, manually trimmed to ensure the highest quality of this delicate raw material.The cod liver is lightly salted and smoked with beechwood to give it a natural smoky flavor.

Canned cod liver is considered a delicacy and is widely consumed as an appetizer or as topping on a piece of toast or in a salad. As well as being very tasty, cod liver is rich in A and D vitamins as well as essential Omega 3 fatty acids.

Cod liver paté

Cod liver paté is a unique blend of fresh cod liver, cod roe and spices in spreadable form. It is very tasty with a silky texture, well suited as a spread on a piece of toast or cracker. Due to the largest ingredient being cod liver, the cod liver paté is rich in vitamins A and D as well as essential Omega 3 fatty acids.

Cod liver with lemon
